My First Nintendo Wii Experience

When I was first introduced to the Nintendo Wii, I was in awe. It never struck me how advanced our technology is until you witness a game that incorporates your movement into gameplay.

Every other game console requires at least a controller with the basic arrows and the “a” and “b” button. Controllers evolved from the super basic controller I have just described into controllers with joysticks, then controllers with more added buttons, and eventually, the Nintendo Wii controller.

The first game I played on the Wii was Mortal Kombat: Armageddon. Again, incorporating our movements into the gameplay put me in awe. With the motion detector, the gameplay was enhanced to a new level. No more will I have to fumble with the buttons to get a move out of my fighter. I will just have to flick my wrist and watch my opponent die.

After the game, I asked for some alone time with the Wii. I went to the home screen and realized something. This thing is like a computer. It can do all the basic things a computer does. It can type, surf the web, watch videos, listen to music and play games.

The thing that amazed me most about the Wii was not just the flexibility of the system. That came in at a close second. The first was the applications you can put on it. You can utilize the Wii in a way I have never seen. After researching online, the application that was put on this Wii was called Brewii.

Brewii is a software that unlocks the Wii and allows it to run foreign code such as burned or copied games, Play Station games, Gamecube games, N64 games, Sega Genesis games and even more. In addition to unlocking it, Brewii does not cancel out the Wii warranty. Not only does the Brewii allows the deciphering of foreign code, but it can also allow the playing of DVDs, CDs and even more features.

Just looking at the Wii makes my mouth salivate. When I pick up my Wii, I will definitely include Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, Mario Kart, Call of Duty, and Brewii.
